This year Broadway in the Park runs from August 4-8 at Old Town Tustin’s Peppertree Park on First Street between “B” & “C” Streets. The Box Office opens at 5:00, the gates open at 5:30 and the show begins approximately at 7:45pm.

The musical is generally rated PG and recommended for ages 10+. The official production guidance notes it’s best suited for ages 10 and up, as it features themes of teenage rebellion, romance, and music. Footloosethemusical

What gives parents pause:
The show contains sexual innuendo in language and movement, kissing, and some colorful language. There are also some anatomical references, and a scene where an adult strikes his teenage nephew. The story itself centers on teens dying in a drunk-driving accident, which can be a heavy theme for little ones. Mount Madonna School

On the other hand, one real-world account is encouraging: a parent who attended with both a 12-year-old and a 7-year-old noted that despite some crass humor and sexual themes, the younger child thoroughly enjoyed the show — the familiar songs, the dancing, and the youthful energy all landed well. Practicallyperfectmums

Bottom line for the Broadway in the Park production: Since this is a local outdoor community production (rather than a full professional touring show), the content is often toned down. A 7-year-old who loves music and dancing will likely have a blast with the energy of it — most of the mature content will go right over their head — but it’s good to go in knowing it’s not strictly a “kids’ show.”

Reserved tables are limited and sell out every year. Sponsors donating $300 and up will be given priority placement for one reserved table. The remaining tables will be assigned on a first-come-first served basis. Each table seats 8 people. No additional seats are permitted.

Seating is NOT provided for general admission. Your proximity to the stage is based on what you sit on. Blankets are closest to the stage. Low-backed beach chairs are behind the blanket section, high-backed beach chair are in the next section and standard sized chairs are in the back section. We do have a few chairs available for rent.  Seating IS provided for reserved table, reserved seats and premium seats.

Audience members may bring a picnic, purchase food from some of Orange County’s best food trucks or order food ahead at our Restaurant Sponsor. (See website for the links.) Snacks, beer, wine, and coffee will be available for purchase at the TACFA food booth.

Plan to come early and enjoy all the activities including, games, crafts, face painting, an opportunity drawing with great prizes, mini art class, plus much more.

Refunds will only be given if TACFA cancels the performance. If TACFA is unable to put on a performance, a full refund will be issued minus any service fees. No refunds for rain.
