Art Masters Progam Wins the Hearts of Elementary Students
TACFA continues for the sixth year to fund the Art Masters Elementary Art Education Program in two underserved Tustin schools, Lambert and Beswick, reaching over 1,200 K-5 students. Art Masters offers age appropriate units of sequential study in visual arts designed to compliment history, social studies, language arts, as well as exciting studio art projects. The program and curriculum meet the California Standards for Visual Arts.
Artists studied this year were M.C. Escher (optical art), John James Audubon (illustrating), and Mexican Muralists (featuring Diego Rivera). Professional Art Masters instructors presented assemblies showcasing the life and work of each artist, their place in history, their art style and composition technique. Each student then created a hands-on art project in the style and medium of the artist studied.

The principal at Lambert Elementary, Deanna Parks, says, “Without the graciousness of TACFA, our students and teachers would not have this amazing experience.” The Art Masters Program costs $3,000/per school/per year. And, our funds are supplemented by the Tustin Community Foundation and Art-A-Fair. However, TAFCA's goal is to increase donations earmarked for this project in order to provide this experience to the remaining five schools in Tustin which currently do not have the program.
