TACFA
Hosts Student Art Show and Awards Ceremony
Talented students from Tustin area middle and high
schools received cash prizes and ribbons at the 18th annual Student
Art Show and Awards Ceremony hosted by the Tustin Area Council for
Fine Arts (TACFA). The standing room only evening was attended by
student artists, art teachers, family members and TACFA members.
Diane Aust, President of TACFA, presented the “Best of Show”
award to Nakiska Shaikah student of Jeff Gillette at Foothill High
School.
Student entries and winners represented a variety
of visual arts. Winners in the various categories are as follows:
9th through 12th grade: 2
Dimensional Painting and Drawing: 1st, Rachel Ison; 2nd, Kaelyn
Handsel; 3rd, Tyler Sakimoto; Honorable Mentions, Cindy Cheng and
Alex Holguin.
Photography (Traditional Film): 1st, Alex Rought; 2nd, Jennifer
Fuentes; 3rd, Jennifer Oliver; Honorable Mentions, Elias Flores
and Julie Ta.
Digital Photography: 1st, Marcus Kennedy; 2nd, Allison Peairs;
3rd, Joyce Lau; Honorable Mentions, Maurice Hurtado, Corey Schultz
and Andrew Allen.
Computer Graphic Design: 1st, Andrew Hoang.
Sculpture/3-Dimensional: 1st, Theyra Valenzuela; 2nd, Jasmyn
Hernandez; 3rd, Nakiska Shaikh; Honorable Mentions, Robin Felix,
Daisy Reyna, Jay Lim and Bon Pham.
6th through 8th grade: 2 Dimensional
Painting and Drawing: 1st, Callie Fink; 2nd, Anthony Inkley; 3rd,
Victoria Brkich; Honorable Mentions, Ana Guzman and Elizabeth Sawyer.
All of the 350 student art entries, including the
winning pieces were on display at the Tustin Senior Center through
April 29. TACFA is pleased to sponsor this event for students in
Tustin area schools. The strong support of the teachers and parents
encourage the students in their artistic endeavors.
TACFA is a philanthropic organization dedicated to
developing and fostering the arts in the greater Tustin area through
school outreach programs, scholarships for art education, and support
