TACFA Reveals its 2009 Broadway in the Park Title

The Tustin Area Council for Fine Arts (TACFA) revealed the title of its 2009 Broadway in the Park selection at an invitation-only party at JT Schmid’s Restaurant and Brewery in The District on Monday, March 2. This year’s musical is Anything Goes, a popular production that will offer excellent, affordable family entertainment suitable for all ages. Helping to make the announcement and providing musical entertainment for the festivities were Josh Carr and Ray Limon, who will produce the show in Peppertree Park August 18-22.

Included among the guests were several elected officials, community leaders and major sponsors. City Council Members Deborah Gavello, John Nielsen, and Jim Palmer joined TUSD School Board Trustee and TACFA member, Jonathan Abelove and his wife Laurie. Others on hand were Dave Wilson, Director, Tustin Parks and Recreation; Mark Eliot, TUSD Director of Communications and TACFA Advisory Committee member; Erin Nielsen, Executive Director of the Tustin Community Foundation; Carol Burby-Garrett, Executive Director of the Tustin Public Schools Foundation; and Julie Hirz, Tustin Public Schools Foundation. Major sponsors in attendance were: Greg and Kathy Anhaltzer; TACFA Board Member Lynda Bjoin and her husband John; TACFA Board Member Bill Amneus and his wife Fay; and former Board Member, Brent Ferdig. Jonathan and Laurie Abelove are also among TACFA’s major sponsors. Community Volunteers, Stu and Joyce Eriksen, who provide significant help with the Broadway in the Park production, and who are generous donors, were also seen celebrating the excitement over “Anything Goes.”

Diane Aust, TACFA President, said, “We are so pleased at this show of support from the Tustin community. TACFA could not provide its many community services without the generous help of local officials, businesses, and individuals. This announcement party is one way TACFA can show its gratitude to those who encourage and enable our programs.”

TACFA is a philanthropic organization dedicated to developing and fostering the arts in the greater Tustin area through school outreach programs, scholarships for art education, support and showcasing of local artists, and Broadway in the Park. For more information on TACFA, see www.tacfa.org.
