The Orange County Department of Educataion (OCDE) Honors TACFA

The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) honored the Tustin Area Council for Fine Arts (TACFA) with its Outstanding Contributions to Education Award on Thursday, January 10, at the OCDE headquarters.

This award recognizes those whose contributions have greatly benefited the education of Orange County students. Nominated by Dr Stephanie Paggi, Chief Academic Officer for the Tustin Unified School District, TACFA was chosen for its exceptional contributions to Tustin area schools with such programs as Meet the Masters, the annual Student Art Show, the Music Guild, and the Barbara Benson Memorial Scholarships. OCDE board member Dr Ken Williams presented the award to Barbara Foster, last year’s TACFA president, and current TACFA president Diane Aust. TACFA attendees also included Susan Dobak, Wendy Greene, and Mercita McClain. Aust stated, “TACFA members very much appreciate this recognition of the work that we love to do in the Tustin community. We are grateful for the encouragement and support this award brings to our organization.”

Representing the TUSD at the awards ceremony were District Superintendent Richard Bray, Stephanie Paggi, and Mark Eliot; and Board of Education members Lynn Davis, Jonathan Abelove (also a TACFA Board Member), and Tammy Bullard.

TACFA is a philanthropic organization dedicated to developing and fostering the arts in the greater Tustin area through school outreach programs, scholarships for art education, and support and showcasing of local artists. For more information on TACFA, see www.tacfa.org.
